5 Years Old!

The day before Andrew's birthday was Friday. I made a layered Rice Krispie cake, cut it in the shape of a "5", and brought it to school for his friend's to enjoy.
We went to Applebee's for supper on Friday. They asked Andrew to stand up on his chair as they announced to everyone in the restaurant that he was turning five and then they sang Happy Birthday to him. It was very funny! Andrew was like a statue.

Birthday morning!

Caleb and Joshua made this card for Andrew. Caleb took the picture of the loader and dump truck.

Birthday cake!

Birthday cake...rainbow cake!

WHO'S THE MONKEY??? :)

Andrew didn't get a bike for his birthday...he got a MOTORCYCLE! :)

Wyatt Wyatt Wyatt

If only I had a picture for every time Wyatt was getting into trouble...he has mastered climbing onto chairs and also the bench at our table. This afternoon as I was giving Natalee an "emergency" bath upstairs, he climbed onto the table and was playing with our cups. Fortunately it was just water and nothing else...
He's not getting into trouble here...just making messes and climbing into places that aren't necessarily meant for children. Andrew thought it was pretty funny!
There were books ALL over the living room floor...but I had to laugh at seeing him peering at me through the crack in the book shelf.

And back inside! I can honestly say that he is our first child to be so...inquisitive. He's literally into everything he can get his hands on. No wonder he doesn't have time to learn how to walk!

Amazing April!

Or I could have also titled this post, "Taking pictures of five children under the age of 9 isn't as easy as one might think!" :) Just for fun, here they are...none turned out as I imagined or hoped, but priceless memories, none the less.

Then I resorted to what worked last year...not so well for 2010...

We enjoyed our first lunch outside on Friday, April 24, 2010! The weather has been spectacular, although the grass could use a little rain.

Ah yeah, here's how you can get five kids to sit still for a picture! :)

Wyatt's Really Hard Week

Monday morning, Wyatt's bad cold turned into a day of hard breathing. Asthma. Great.

Wednesday morning, Wyatt fell off the stairs (over the side) and into the open wooden toy box. It looks bad, but apperantly there shouldn't be any scarring.

Thursday morning, and the right side of his face was quite swollen. I ended up in the ER with Wyatt (and Natalee) for a 2 hour visit and everything is good! No cause for concern.

Sunday morning, I went to get Wyatt from bed...only to find him sick. He threw up a couple of times but seems to be on the mend. He's very tired and a bit of a fever this evening, but nothing unusual from what we've experienced with our other children when they've had the gastro virus. I took a picture of him sleeping on the mainfloor on the "Spider" coach. You can see the yellow bruising on his cheek. The scab has come off of his cheek and it looks so much better.

Hopefully Wyatt will have a better week this week...

Easter

Good Friday, and Caleb and Joshua are fighting. I had this great idea to separate them...and then I gave Joshua an assignment. Build three crosses with Lego. This is what he came up with! I was very impressed! Joshua's is below.

Caleb was not to be outdone and built the top one. I'm still getting used to this order of loading pictures on Blogger...

Spring Break

Oh the joys of having a non-walker in spring!

At least HE had fun while he was outside. The gravel apparently tastes really good! :)

We spent Wednesday night at the Victoria Inn. Here we are enjoying our "picnic" in our hotel room in order to maximize our pool time.

We had subs from home and each of the boys got to pick a special "treat" that we also made. Caleb asked for O'Henry bar, Joshua wanted Reese's bar and Andrew...
Andrew chose monster cookies. They were really yummy! Natalee? Well, she got chocolate chip banana bread for breakfast!

Birthdays!

March 12th - Caleb's birthday. This is the Bakugan (back-you-gone) card Joshua made for Caleb.
We gave Caleb a t-shirt, a movie, and Star Wars binoculoars for his birthday.

This is the cake Caleb requested for his "friend" birthday party. It is a "Jello Poke Cake". First I baked two round white cakes. After they cooled, the boys poked holes all over the cake and we poured strawberry jello all over both cakes. After the jello set overnight, I spread strawberry jam in between the layers, stacked them, iced the cake, and decorated it with mini oreos as per my son's request. What an imagination! It was a very delicious cake.

Sunday, March 14 - a birthday party with both sets of grandparents for Natalee and Caleb. In a few years, there will ANOTHER birthday party added to this crazy week! (By that, I mean when Natalee is school-age and she will have her friend party in addition to the family party.) The boys requested a sparkler candle - Natalee was a little afraid of it, and you can see that Caleb was trying to sneak a touch in there. Natalee had cupcakes with pink icing topped with a giant gummy strawberry.

Then it was Caleb's turn. As Grandma Voth pointed out, this is his last year in the single digits. I bought him the number "9" candle for his cookie pizza, which was decorated with mini eggs and Reece's pieces. Yummy!

Presents! A Dora backpack for Natalee...

Caleb carefully reading his birthday cards.

And Natalee got a PINK bike as well as the pink outfit she is wearing. She was quite thrilled with her presents!

These days, Wyatt is trying to climb into everything - any bucket that he can fit into. The other day, he was trying to sit in a small frying pan. Not that easy a fit for such a big boy. Here he is in Natalee's doll carriage - he really likes it, even though it is not a very safe place for him.

Happy Birthday Natalee!

The boys putting the finishing touches out Natalee's birthday cake.
Yummm, chocolate icing!

Our finished product. It may not look overly fabulous, but it was delicious!

Sunday morning. Joshua reads the card he made to his 3 year old sister.

Birthday cake time! Happy 3rd birthday to our favourite little girl!

Wyatt likes Rice Krispie cake too. :)

This & That

Andrew's Lego Creation.
Wyatt found a new drawer in my kitchen to "go through". Yes, caught in the act!

Caleb's sign to cheer on the Canadian Olympic hockey teams.

BOYS!

I am not a big pie maker. The other day Caleb asked for cherry pie, so on Friday, we made a cherry pie. This was our first attempt at a lattice pie crust. We had a few leftover strips of dough, so we put on a "C" for Caleb and an "M" for Mom, since we did all the hard work. The best part was that it tasted delicious!
