This & That

BOYS!

I am not a big pie maker. The other day Caleb asked for cherry pie, so on Friday, we made a cherry pie. This was our first attempt at a lattice pie crust. We had a few leftover strips of dough, so we put on a "C" for Caleb and an "M" for Mom, since we did all the hard work. The best part was that it tasted delicious!

Awesome looking pie. Kudos to you for trying a lattice top. I have never done one of those. It looks like it would be a lot of work. Was it?

Deborah - no, it wasn't that much work at all. We rolled it out in the regular round shape we would have for a normal top. Then Caleb cut about 1" wide strips. Put the longest strip down the middle, then the next longest strip goes across the middle the other way (perpendicular to your first pastry strip). Then you alternate, picking up pieces and layering them as you like.
