Busy!

We celebrated Andrew's 2nd birthday yesterday ( a few weeks early), since all the grandparents and uncles were already at our house for Baby Dedication. Since Andrew's favourite dessert is cookies (at least, that's all he can ask for!), I made him some chewy oatmeal monster cookies instead of a cake. Thanks, Grandpa Bergman, for the picture.
Yesterday, Sunday April 29th, we had Baby Dedication at Church. Here's Pastor Mark introducing Natalee to the congregation. Natalee was just starting to fuss (from being tired), but fortunately, she made it through the short event without too much noise.
We've been having really nice weather here lately. Joshua is big into bugs again this year. Here's another ladybug he found. Caleb & him like to plan houses for them to live in. Soon it will be canker worms...YUCK!!
Caleb playing outside with a paddle and ball.
Andrew talking on his toy phone.
Back to Baby Dedication. I was brave enough to ask Mike to take a picture of me & my daughter.
We also tried for another picture of all four children, since it was such a nice day outside. Unfortunately, they were looking right into the sun. Oh well, some day, we'll get the "perfect" picture!

Natalee in her "granny cap".
I tied up Andrew's "puppy" (sheep) in a sling for him and he proudly wandered all over the house with his baby until it was time to eat.
I include this picture because CALEB took the picture!! Cool! I hope to be giving him more and more opportunities to use the camera.
Natalee and her pink bear for her monthly photo shoot. I really need to post the other picture right underneath here from last month for you to really appreciate how big she's grown!
Here is Caleb holding his crying sister. I have a great picture of Caleb holding Andrew (when Andrew was 2 months of age) and Andrew was crying - and Caleb had this same tender look on his face. I definitely want to put this one in a scrapbook some day! That's it for now! Thanks for visiting us!

Burping & Haircuts

Natalee enduring a burping session. I think I've figured out that her problem is not gas after all. We seem to be settling into some sort of routine, although two or three days doesn't exactly seem like much of an established routine yet! Natalee is awake most of the morning and enjoys nursing as much as possible. Usually, she has a longer afternoon nap, about 3-4 hours, then is awake off and on and eating as much as I'll let her until I finally nurse her to sleep between 9 pm and 10. Then she usually will sleep anywhere from five to eight hours straight, wake up to nurse, and then back to sleep for another three to five hours. Not bad for a 6 week old!! She is also finding some comfort with a soother, which gives me a break and Mike a chance to deal with her fussiness.
Andrew got his first BUZZ CUT! I had been talking about it for a couple months already, but Mike said, "No, his hair suits him!" It was always crazy hair, sticking up one minute, and with all the static in winter, plastered to his head the next minute. Now that the weather has warmed up for a couple of days, I decided it was time for him to fit in with the rest of the boys. He was SO good when I took the clippers to his head! Absolutely no problems at all! I can't believe that less than two years ago, we had our hands full with the fussiest of fussy Bergmann babies.

Andrew & Natalee

Andrew cannot say a lot of words (that are understandable to most adults, at least), but he does say "Natalee" quite well already. I thought Andrew was going to have lots of issues when another baby came along, but he loves her just as much as his bigger brothers do. It is really sweet to see him giving her hugs & kisses.

Yesterday, at 5 weeks old, Natalee weighed 8 lbs. and 0.5 oz. She's getting longer, too. I put another sleeper away today, because it's too short for her. And the reason why I have been unable to post anything on my blog sooner, is because I've been busy feeding this tiny, growing little girl. Imagine that! When she's not eating, she's complaining that I'm not feeding her.

Playing Outside

Andrew on an Andrew-sized chair! He really loves the kid-sized stuff. He also loves to be outside and find water and mud...whatever he can get dirty in.
Joshua playing baseball. Notice how he has the glove on too, even though he's up to bat.

The Many Faces of Natalee

"What is that woman doing with that camera AGAIN?!?!?"
"Pardon me? You want me to smile, is that what you said?"
"Yeah, right. This is the closest thing to a smile that I'm going to give YOU!"
"OK, this is getting really boring! I'm going to get ready now for a good, long cry...don't you want a picture of that? Heh, where'd you put your camera NOW!"

Sleeping on Daddy

Natalee taking a nap on Daddy. She's starting to have more fussy times, especially when she's been awake for a bit and it time for a nap. She sometimes reminds me (a little) of her brother, Andrew. For those of you unaware of the challenges Andrew brought to our lives, suffice it so say he cried/screamed a lot for no apparent reason (maybe just from being over-tired or anytime - make that EVERY time - we were away from home for the first several months of his life)! We hope she won't follow him down that road...
Here's a close-up! I'm so excited that I finally re-discovered the "close-up" setting on my camera. I still haven't tried it out on a "real photo shoot". This outfit was borrowed to us from a friend of mine from church. Caleb asked why Natalee was dressing up like an angel (as if she picked out the clothes herself). Isn't he the sweetest boy? With the sweetest sleeping sister. There's nothing quite so sweet and angelic as a sleeping baby.

The Car Show

Mike brought Caleb & Joshua to the car show this past weekend. They got to see Lightning McQueen!! Unfortunately, most of the pictures are pretty blurry. I guess the lighting there and my camera did not agree once again!
